Can you make contemporary dances to classical music ?

Okay, so, recently I have been really interested in classical music, or ragtime music, and, one piece that I like is “The Entertainer”, by Scott Joplin. I was wondering if I were to make a contemporary dance to that song, at a faster pace of course, would it work ?
Thanks !

Ragtime isn’t exactly classical music, however you can make a contemporary dance to anything and everything from classical music, the spoken word, to even noise or silence.
Here is an example of the great choreographer Kylian using Mozart for a piece.

I can imagine that working. Even if it seems hard at first I am sure with enough effort you could make it work- a dancer is an artist and must be creative. Good luck.
